Portrait: Kaito with ice pops - "This one is for you!"

In March, a good friend of mine commissioned me a portrait of her little son. She was very patient and always told me to take my time, and... I took her words quite literally, taking my sweet time to finish one drawing... But finally it was done, and I was able to give all the works to them!

Kaito, with his absolute cuteness, has totally stolen my heart, so I had so much fun drawing him.
He is a well mannered little gentleman of 3 years old, but also a skillful charmer - imagine him running towards you and out of the blue cheekily telling you "hey cutie!" have no choice but to go "awwww!" and fall in love with this little boy. haha.

One time, while I was visiting their home, Kaito brought me and him an ice pop each. That's already sweet that he'd brought one for me, but then it got sweeter; once he had opened his wrapping, he asked his mum to hold his ice pop. The mum and I had expected him to immediately begin eating, so we were a little puzzled as to why he had given it to his mum. Turns out it was so that he can offer me to take my wrapping (and his) to the bin! Awww!
And so I decided to make this cute episode the motif, because I think it perfectly portrays his genuine sweetness.

Voila, this is how it turned out:

While deciding on the above motif, I also did a smaller sketch of him drawing (or him at an about-to-draw-moment):

145mm x 210mm pencil and watercolour on a sketchbook paper

And some more study sketches, which I've blogged about before:

210mm x 297mm (A4) pencil on Canson 90gsm paper
